Why Is Kim Kardashian’s Topknot so Big? It’s Full of Secrets (and a Genius Hair Tip)

Why Is Kim Kardashian’s Topknot so Big? It’s Full of Secrets (and a Genius Hair Tip)
Kim Kardashian just took the topknot to new heights…no extensions needed.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star arrived to a Hamptons party in a Trois x Revolve Campbell Dress (that's already sold out, by the way), thigh-high Yeezy boots and an impressive towering updo.

At first look, hair extensions would explain the added volume. But according to Kim's hairstylist, Justine Marjan, there's a super-simple trick to get this expertly messy look: Don't tie up all your hair at once!

"I always split the hair into two sections when I put it up because it's easier to control the hair," said Justine. "I love how sexy and effortless this look is. It's easy to recreate and who doesn't love the way pulling the hair up makes your face look? It's universally flattering."

How exactly did the celeb hairstylist create this "mile-high" topknot? See her steps below!

Step 1: Prep dry strands with Paul Mitchell Dry Wash and Spray Wax.
    Step 2: Brush hair.
Step 3: Split the hair into two sections, with the topmost section from ear to the crown of the head.
Step 4: Gather the top section into an ultra-high ponytail, leaving loose some strands around the hairline, then securing with a hair elastic.
Step 5: Gather the bottom half of the hair and attach to the top pony with a hair bungee.
Step 6: Use dry wax throughout the length of the pony and rough up with fingers.
Step 7: Twist and knot the hair into a topknot, securing with bobby pins and French pins to hold.
Step 8: Pull loose any stray strands around the nape of the next, then hairspray to finish.
"Leaving out the baby hairs is an effortless nod to the ‘90s," added Justine. "Super edgy and cool."
