Russian champions CSKA Moscow believe
Nigeria winger Ahmed Musa should be attracting interest from the likes
of Barcelona, Bayern, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City,
not to take a step down in his career by joining a smaller outfit.
The 23-year-old scored 18 goals in 44
appearances across all competitions this season prompting interest from
Premier League champions Leicester City.
And CSKA confirmed on Monday that they
would listen to offers for the South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of Nations
winner, who won his third Russian League title following the
Militarians’ 1-0 win against Rubin Kazan at Kazan Arena on Saturday.
Reports in the British media earlier
this month had claimed Musa was a target for Leicester boss Claudio
Ranieri in January but the Foxes pulled out due to CSKA’s asking price
of £20m for the player.
Daily Mail said they decided to revive their interest in Musa as they plan for the Champions League next season.
But CSKA seem not happy that only Leicester City are in the race for the former Kano Pillars star.
The Russian giants’ Director-General
Roman Babayev insists they would not block a Musa transfer – but
warned potential suitors the Nigeria vice-captain wouldn’t come cheap
“I do not want to guess. Of course, he is quite an expensive footballer,” Championat quoted Babayez as saying.
“And this is understandable: he is in the same level of players who can play in any big European club, not so much in Russia.
“It is obvious that the market value of Musa is tens of millions.”
