There were a number of our players involved on the international stage tonight, with mixed results, while Mason Mount scored a brace for England Under-18s.
There was plenty of Chelsea involvement in the friendly between Belgium and Spain as Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard started for the hosts while both Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta came off the bench for the away side.
With both teams under new management - Roberto Martinez for Belgium and Julen Lopetegui for Spain - David Silva scored either side of the break to win it for the visitors.
The first goal came 11 minutes before half-time with Silva adding a second from the penalty spot after 62 minutes.
In between Silva's two strikes Courtois, who made a number of impressive saves, thwarted Diego Costa with a fine stop.
Diego Costa, recently recalled by Spain, replaced the injured Alvaro Morata and Azpilicueta came on for Jordi Alba at left-back.
Michy Batshuayi was an unused substitute for Belgium.
N’Golo Kante started for France as they recorded an impressive 3-1 win over Italy in Bari.
Kante started in a strong three-man midfield alongside Paul Pogba and Blaise Matuidi for France, who took a first-half lead through Anthony Martial.
The hosts equalised four minutes later but France restored their advantage almost immediately when Olivier Giroud made it 2-1. Nine minutes from time Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa added a third for the visitors. Kante completed the full game.
Eduardo played the full 90 minutes for Portugal as the European champions cruised to a 5-0 win over Gibraltar in Porto.
The Chelsea goalkeeper enjoyed a comfortable evening as the hosts dominated the game, with Nani scoring either side of half-time to put them in control before further strikes from Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva and Pepe.
Elsewhere, Mount was the match-winner for England Under-18s as they secured a 2-1 victory over Italy in Fleetwood this evening.
Mount and his Chelsea team-mate Jared Thompson both started for the young Three Lions, and it was Mount who proved the difference between the teams as he netted a brace to win the game for the home side, the first of which was a stunning free-kick which beat the goalkeeper at his near post.
After Italy had drawn level, the Chelsea midfielder netted the winner with 17 minutes left to play, working his way into the box and finishing brilliantly.
Elsewhere, Tammy Abraham , Izzy Brown and Fikayo Tomori played no part as England Under-20s’ drew 1-1 in a behind-closed-doors game against Brazil. The two teams are due to meet again in Kidderminster on Sunday.
